On August 23rd, member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Executive Chairman of China International Cultural Communication Center (CICCC) Long Yuxiang held cordial talks with the Speaker of the National Assembly of South Korean Chung Sye Kyun on developing friendly cooperation and exchanges between China International Cultural Communication Center and South Korea.
Chung Sye Kyun welcomed Long Yuxiang and his delegation to visit the National Assembly of South Korea, and congratulated him on his receiving of an honorary doctorate from the Sun Moon University. During the talk, Chung Sye Kyun said that China and South Korea are friendly neighbors, but the issue of “THAAD” caused some problem to the ROK-China relations, to which he expressed his deep regret. He said it’s like family or friends are on bad terms with each other, but we should try our best to improve the situation. Chung Sye Kyun hoped that South Korea and China could strengthen non-governmental exchanges and cooperation, and actively promote the sound development of ROK-China relations.
Long Yuxiang expressed his thanks to Chung Sye Kyun for meeting the delegation despite of his busy schedule. On behalf of the Vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People’s Congress and Chairman of China International Cultural Communication Center Ismail Tiliwaldi, Long Yuxiang passed his regards to the speaker Chung Sye Kyun. Long Yuxiang gave a brief introduction of CICCC to Chung Sye Kyun, saying that China and South Korea are good neighbors and good partners. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties, bilateral relations have been developing rapidly and fruitful results have been achieved in political, economic, cultural, educational, and scientific fields of communication. But now, the “THAAD” issue has brought negative impact on exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in various fields, which is what we all don’t want to see. President Xi Jinping attaches great importance to China-ROK relations. We hope that South Korea will pay high attention to China’s major concerns and properly handle the issue of “THAAD” so as to remove obstacles to develop and improve China-ROK relations. China International Cultural Communication Center actively strengthens exchanges between the two countries and promotes bilateral cooperation in culture, education, science, technology and sports, which benefits the two peoples. Long Yuxiang also invited South Korea to participate the “Silk Road Cup” Super Hockey League organized by CICCC and Ice Hockey Association of Russia, to which Chung Sye Kyun expressed active support.
After the meeting, Long Yuxiang presented Chung Sye Kyun the artistic work by Zhang Liangliang and the team uniform of the Beijing Kunlun Red Star Hockey Club. President of South Korea Sun Moon University Huang Sun Zo attended the meeting.
