DPRK National Troupe’s exchange performances are highly successful and appreciated in China.

     Approved by Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China and Foreign Ministry of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, invited by China International Cultural Communication Center and China's Foreign Cultural Exchange Association, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea National Troupe has staged a one-month-long exchange performance in China from 3rd of January to 5th of February, 2013. Democratic People’s Republic of Korea National Troupe has 14 performances in 10 cities including Beijing, Tianjin, Nanjing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Changsha, Changde and Taiyuan, and over 10 thousand audiences watch them. The Troupe has brought Chinese audiences traditional Korean dance performances, which are outstanding beautiful art feast, enjoyed a good reputation and rave reviews from all over the world.

     Established in 1947, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea National Troupe is a national first-level art group of Korea and one of the three national treasure art groups. Democratic People’s Republic of Korea National Troupe has many artists and majored in Korean traditional music and dances, once creating fabulous dramas such as the Tale of Shenqing and rewarded the Medal of Kim Il-sung, the highest medal in Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in 1973; and many artists inside the troupe have acquired the reputation of People’s Artist and Honored Artist. In this art exchange, the troupe has 60 people together, bringing vivid and traditional performances to Chinese audiences, showing the improving life of Korean people, and offering Chinese people a precious chance to enjoy fantastic Korean art at close range. Besides these, they have also staged many song which are familiar to Chinese people such as Mother and Good lives.

     Democratic People’s Republic of Korea National Troupe’s exchange performances have received high attention and wide reputation from leading cadres from all levels. In the first performance in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, the vice chairman of National People’s Congress and the chairman of China International Cultural Communication Center---Simayi Tieliwaerdi, the minister of Chinese Communist Party's International Liaison Department---Jiarui Wang, the relevant leading cadres from central ministries, the Four Headquarters of People’s Liberation Army, and People’s Armed Polices, foreign diplomatic envoys and guests from the globe watched it together. And after the performance, they commented that the show given by Democratic People’s Republic of Korea National Troupe is very outstanding and splendid and hoped that there will be more art exchange between Korea and China.

     In Nanjing, the former political commissar of Nanjing Military Region, General Zuqi Fang and Mingqiu Fang and Guoling Chen have feted the chief leader and relevant people of the troupe. During the feast, General Zuqi Fang said with deep emotions that 60 years ago, he once fought with the Korean People together in the Korean War and has forged a profound friendship with Korean people; and since Korean people are gifted in dancing and singing, the performances of the troupe must be world-class ones. The significance of the exchange art performances is to sprout the friendship forged by blood deep in the heart of the people of two brother nations.

      In Shanghai, General Mingqiu Lei---the member of National People's Congress Standing Committee, the vice chairman of Ethnic Affairs Committee of National People's Congress, and the vice chairman of China International Cultural Communication Center, Yungeng Liu---the chairman of Shanghai People’s Congress and other relevant leading cadres participated and watched the performance together, praising that the troupe has brought Shanghai a extraordinarily splendid Korean traditional show.

       In Shenzhen, the President of the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong---Jasper Tsang and the relevant leading cadres of China International Cultural Communication Center in Hong Kong and Shenzhen watched the performance. In Guangzhou, Guoqing Wen---the former vice Commander of Guangzhou Military Region and vice political commissar of Guangzhou Military Region and many other leading cadres watched the show together. In Fuzhou, the chairman of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Reference in Fujian---Qiping Liang, the vice chairman of Fujian People’s Congress--- Hong Li and many other leading cadres watched the performance together. They all commented that this show was a noble and educationing one; with its perfect presentation, this noble art has touched the heart of every audience; and this is a show that everyone would love to see every day; last but not least, they hope there will be more art exchange between China and DPRK in the future.

      The performances of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea National Troupe in Changsha and Chengde has attracted the leading cadres of Hunan provincial Party Committee, Hunan People’s Congress, Hunan provincial government, and Hunan military region and they believed that the show given by the troupe was absolutely stirring and causing people to think deep about it, capable to be one of the rare classical art in China in recent years; and they hope that the medias and audiences can get rid of the influence of the vulgar and kitsch culture, focusing more on high art and national traditional art.

       In Taiyuan, the leading cadres of Shanxi provincial Party Committee and Shanxi People’s Political Consultative Reference have watched the performances of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea National Troupe and they commented that the show of the troupe remains not only pure and elegant, but also carries forward the melody, singing for the national leader, singing for the thought of Military-first supported by all the DPRK leaders, and bringing intense art enjoyment to audiences with its distinct national characters.

       Every performance of the 14 ones was extraordinarily splendid and over 10 thousand audiences were filled with deep thoughts given rise by the show. Lady Tengfang, an old artist, said with deep memory and emotion, that she watched the performance of the same troupe 60 years ago and she was very excited to see it once again today. She believed that this kind of exchange art performances is very beneficial because Korean traditional dance is world-class and the performances presented by the troupe were absolutely elegant. Many ordinary audiences also showed that Democratic People’s Republic of Korea National Troupe’s visit to China has greatly nourished the healthy development of China-DPRK relationship and exerted a positive effect on the friendship between the people of these two nations, not only offering Chinese audiences a chance to experience the high art of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea National Troupe, but also demonstrating outstanding levels of Korean artists and the high spirit of Korean people. The performances of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea National Troupe also obtained attention from CCTV and many other Medias, which reported the spectacular event of the performances at every stop.

       Both sides of China and Democratic People’s Republic of Korea agree that there are no boundaries in art and culture is the best bridge between nations. The exchange art performances have provide Chinese people with opportunity to enjoy the Korean Art at close range, improving the deep relations of the people between these two nations through art and spreading the profound friendship between these two countries.
